NEW and UPDATE events are highlighted below.
OK, for those who are anxiously waiting to find out why I shifted to mid-week updates, here it is: This is the last update I’m sending out for awhile. Jane Ann and I are out of pocket for the next two weeks, and I’m not taking work with me, just a camera.
NO CHANGES/UPDATES IN EVENTS FROM MY LAST UPDATE ON 10/3!!
REMINDER: To locate events, details, and registration information, please go to our HCR Calendar and you can find these events there with registration links.
Oct 10: Porsche / Ferrari Car Show and Concours
Porsche vs. Ferrari! OK, it’s a Car Show and Concours, not LeMans. But still, we want a big showing of support for our favorite beloved marque, Porsche! HCR member John Brindley has been planning the day in earnest with his Ferrari counterpart, and the venue is none other than Moorespeed.
The date is Sunday, October 10. It looks like we will have the show on the grassy field in front of Moorespeed, and the plans include several classes of entries.
UPDATE:
This event is now full for judged vehicles. We have almost 100 attendees registered!! Woohoo! While the event shows “closed” on clubreg, John Brindley is still taking registrations to attend the concours. New registrants will go onto a waitlist, and John will let you in the event. Or, just show up.
John still needs a couple more volunteers to be show up early and be judges or help park cars. ALL VOLUNTEERS GET A FREE BREAKFAST TACO AND COFFEE FOR STARTERS, AND A FREE BEER AT THE END OF THE EVENT.
Contact John if you want to volunteer: john.brindley@hcrpca.org.
Registration to attend is still available.
Oct 16: Cars, Coffee and Croissants
The date is Saturday, October 16 and the location is Mozart’s Coffee Roasters at 3825 Lake Austin Blvd. The event runs from 9am-noon. Mozart will have a 40-car reserved space out in front, with another parking lot available for overflow parking. Folks, this is shaping up to be an OctoberFest themed event . . . big crowds are expected and a Polka Band will be in full force. Mozart will have free stuff for attendees WHO PRE-REGISTER (hint: smells like coffee). This is all being done because we are, of course, Porsche, the top German marque!
UPDATES:
- Registration is now closed but we have a waitlist. Amber contacts each person on the waitlist to confirm their selection times (9am, 10:30am, or entire event), and then lets them into the event. Our reserved spaces are almost booked. Amber is still taking additional registrants.
- Amber will contact all registrants this week with additional information, via email.
- We still need some more volunteers to show up early, help check in registrants as they arrive, direct cars to the proper parking areas, and help get cars parked. IF YOU VOLUNTEER IN ADVANCE AND NOTIFY AMBER, YOU GET A FREE CUP OF COFFEE AND A BREAKFAST PASTRY, courtesy of HCR. You can reach Amber at: Amber@hcrpca.org.
Registration recommended (if you want free stuff and a possible reserved space).
Oct 23-24: Overnight Tour to Rockport!!
This tour is sold out! If you got in, congratulations. More details will be forthcoming from our Tourmaster, Chris McChesney, regarding departure location and meeting time.
Registration required.
Oct 30: Tour to Belton and Beyond
How about a drive up north for a change? It promises to be “spooktacular”. We’ll wind through farm lands on some roads you may not have driven and that are just as nice as our Hill Country Roads. You’re sure to find some a-maze-ing turns.
Registration required plus a $10.00 administrative fee for this event.
Nov 6: GT International Fall Car Show
It’s time again for the annual Fall classic, the GT International Car Show! This year’s car show is on Saturday, November 6 from 10:00am – 2:00pm. There will be live music, food and fun!
Registration required.
Nov 13: Fall Autocross
Our Fall Autocross is on Saturday, November 13 at the HEB Center in Cedar Park. At the last Autocross, we had a bunch of individuals from outside of PCA that joined us. While this is great from a financial perspective, our goal is to fill up the 60-person roster with PCA members. This event is now open to the public, and will fill up quickly, so don’t delay.
Registration and event fee payment required.
Nov 20: Petrol Lounge/HCR New Members’ Social, presented by XPEL Austin
Petrol Lounge will host this event at their new location at 2631 Kramer Lane in Austin. It’s bigger and waaaay better than their former location, with lots more cool cars. This event is for all members, and especially our members who joined us in 2021. But everyone is invited.
Please note attendance is capped at 75 people, and there will be a NON-refundable $10.00 per person administration fee at registration, to help defer the cost of tables, chairs, and table cloths.
Registration and administrative fee payment required.
Dec 4: Hill Country Scavenger Hunt Drive
Stacey and Rich Soule have organized a pretty swell scavenger hunt set for Saturday, December 4! Best part: you get to drive your P-Car to hunt for the scavenger items! Hint: you really need a navigator for this event.
Registration and administrative fee payment required.
Dec 10: Holiday Party
Our Annual Holiday Party is on the calendar again, on Friday evening, December 10. We are back out at the Village of The Hills Lakeway clubhouse, and it promises to be another great evening of fun, prizes, raffles, silent auction items, awards, and general frivolity. Once again, we ask each couple attending to bring an unused, unwrapped children’s gift to donate to Toys for Tots program with the Lakeway Police Dept.
Registration and dinner ticket fee payment required.
Looking Back
No events this past week.
Our objective continues to be to keep our membership up to date on what is going on in HCR, as well as PCA nationally. Please remember, our goal is to deliver events where members can choose their level of participation. We will continue to stress safe and fun events!
