Here’s this week’s update, with best wishes to all for a Happy and Safe Thanksgiving this week:

Nov 24: HCR Porsche Friendsgiving

The Social team of event coordinators has put together another unique event, and it’s one we’ve never tried previously. This is merely a GTG (Get ToGether) the day before Thanksgiving for any of our members looking for that last “Porsche-fix” social before spending a long weekend with or without family. The event is open to anyone in HCR and guests, and no registration is required . . . just show up if you desire.

On Wednesday, Nov 24 the group will gather at the Yard House in the Domain, located at 11800 Domain Blvd, Suite 700 in Austin. The time is from 5:00pm to 8:00pm, or however long you want to stay and enjoy everyone’s company! The Yard House is a high-end sports bar with a huge and diverse menu, and an extensive selection of draft beers and full bar.

For those with access to Facebook, you can sign up there if you like, but it’s not required.

The Social team promises that this Friendsgiving will be waaay better than the movie.

If any questions, contact David Schnepp or Amber Ashy.

Dec 1: Ladies Lunch at Pappadeaux

Michelle has set up another terrific lunch for the ladies on Wednesday, Dec 1st at 11:30am. The location is at Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen at 11617 Research Blvd in Austin.

Please let Michelle know if you are interested in attending.

Dec 4: Hill Country Scavenger Hunt Drive

Stacey and Rich Soule have organized a pretty swell family-friendly scavenger hunt set for Saturday, December 4! Best part: you get to drive your P-Car to hunt for the scavenger items! Hint: you need a tech-savvy navigator for this event, plus a cell phone with camera to decode the clues, solve the riddles, and report your team’s finds. This is not a race or a timed event, so it’s a great time for a family road-trip while the kids decipher clues in the backseat (it’s better than hearing “Are we there yet?” over and over).

The hunt includes two options: one for our puzzle-crazy members, and another “Scavenger Hunt Lite” version for our members who are new to the area or just want a more relaxed (read “easier”) way to enjoy the fun. You choose how to complete this un-timed event.

Also, our end spot for lunch in Bee Cave is offering a nice discount to our group, so don’t get lost on the way and let’s have fun and some great food!

Registration and $10 administrative fee payment required.

Dec 8: Lunch Bunch TBA

Dec 11: Sim Driving Catered Lunch and Tech Session at Porsche Austin

These are two separate, but associated, events at Porsche Austin on the same date!

First, we have a catered lunch by XSPACE, from 12:00pm-1:30pm. The purpose of the lunch is to introduce potential Sim Drivers to ways to start Sim Driving, and for existing Sim Drivers to network over lunch. Topics include computer hardware, iRacing platform, leagues, and chalk talk about tracks and cars. Recognition is included for the drivers who participated in the recent 8-event HCR series, with awards starting at 1:00pm. PLEASE NOTE: This is a separate event from the Tech Session, so if you would like to attend both events, please register for each one separately. We will have 30 minutes between both events for transition time.

Second, we have the Tech Session at Porsche Austin! The re-scheduled tech session for Hill County will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Porsche Austin will provide snacks, drinks, and door prizes.

A trio topics will be covered:
(1) an overview of popular options currently available;
(2) an illumination of the Porsche PDK dual-clutch transmission; and
(3) the history surrounding some dealer exclusive classic models.

The event is now open and attendance is capped at 60 participants, with a non-refundable $10 administrative fee per attendee. Before the event, attendees will be divided into three groups (A, B, & C) to rotate through the presentations.

If registration exceeds 60, Stacey will run a waitlist. Waivers will be required, and attendance cannot be confirmed until you verify your signature for the waiver through ClubReg.

Dec 18: Light Me Up Tour!

This will be our first evening tour. We are planning a drive out to Johnson City to see the twon Christmas lights. Johnson City really does it right. The Court House and town square are really lit up…so much so that it registers on the NASA Hubble Telescope! Seriously.

We will be meeting about 5ish in the evening, probably somewhere out at the Hill Country Galleria and drive straight out to Johnson City. Dinner is optional and there are several places to choose from. More details and dining spot recommendations will be forthcoming.

Details coming on the HCR Calendar along with link to registration.

Nov 18: Brewery Afternoons “Hoppy Hour”

Yes, we named it “Hoppy Hour” (actually, Randy Whitten from Petrol Lounge gets the credit). No less than 20 members joined us for our event at HopSquad Brewery this past Thursday by The Domain. Our friends from XPel Austin also joined us, and we had several new members in attendance. I counted 3 food trucks outside, and the beer was very tasty! (In fact, a bunch of us hit it a second time last night after our New Members’ Social). Fun time and excellent launch of our newest social event. Be sure to look for the Hoppy Hour next month. Our Brewmeister, Greg Lee, promises to move the event to different breweries each month around Austin.

Nov 20: Petrol Lounge/HCR New Members’ Social, presented by XPEL Austin

Our New Member Social last night was a big hit! Lots of new members, and members who attended their first event. The fajitas from Dos Salsa’s were perfect with all the trimmings. Petrol Lounge showed off their usual assortment of amazing cars, including Michael Schumacher’s 2000 F1 car that won the Brazilian Gran Prix (yes, it takes a shoehorn to fit into that cockpit). And the event was sponsored by XPEL Austin, and featured cool raffle prizes from them, plus PDR gift certificates and a full auto detail by the team at Petrol Lounge. Check out the pics on FB!

Our objective continues to be to keep our membership up to date on what is going on in HCR, as well as PCA nationally. Please remember, our goal is to deliver events where members can choose their level of participation. We will continue to stress safe and fun events!

If any questions or comments, please let me know.
