Here’s this week’s update, with best wishes to all for working off that Turkey Day L-tryptophan overload:
Dec 1: Ladies Lunch at Pappadeaux
Michelle has set up another terrific lunch for the ladies on Wednesday, Dec 1st at 11:30am. The location is at Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen at 11617 Research Blvd in Austin.
Please let Michelle know if you are interested in attending.
Dec 4: Hill Country Scavenger Hunt Drive
Stacey and Rich Soule have organized a pretty swell family-friendly scavenger hunt set for Saturday, December 4! Best part: you get to drive your P-Car to hunt for the scavenger items! Hint: you need a tech-savvy navigator for this event, plus a cell phone with camera to decode the clues, solve the riddles, and report your team’s finds. This is not a race or a timed event, so it’s a great time for a family road-trip while the kids decipher clues in the backseat (it’s better than hearing “Are we there yet?” over and over).
The hunt includes two options: one for our puzzle-crazy members, and another “Scavenger Hunt Lite” version for our members who are new to the area or just want a more relaxed (read “easier”) way to enjoy the fun. You choose how to complete this un-timed event.
Also, our end spot for lunch in Bee Cave is offering a nice discount to our group, so don’t get lost on the way and let’s have fun and some great food!
Registration and $10 administrative fee payment required.
Dec 9: Lunch Bunch at Sundancer Grill
The December Lunch Bunch is at Sundancer Grill 16410 Stewart Rd, Lakeway, TX 78734. As usual, it starts at 11:30am. No pre-registration is necessary, just show up.
Dec 10: Holiday Party!!
And, now Ladies and Gentlemen, back to our regularly scheduled programming!
The HCR Holiday Party is quickly approaching! Break out your holiday cocktail attire and join us for some fabulous food and a chance to win some prizes, all in the name of charity! We’ll be at the Hills of Lakeway Country Club (26 Club Estates Pkwy ATX) on Friday, December 10th.
6-7: Social Hour (Arrival, cash/credit bars open, and hors d’oeuvres served)
7-8: Served Buffet (Beef Filet, Bourbon Chicken, or Grilled Salmon)
8-9: Charity Raffle and Silent Auction
Tickets are $70 per person and we ask that you bring an unwrapped, unused toy for the Lakeway Police Toys for Tots program. Raffle tickets will be available at the door for $5 per ticket or 5 for $20. This year we’ll be donating 100% of the proceeds to Texas Burn Survivors. We will also present our annual HCR Volunteer Awards!
Seats are limited and registration is required no later than December 2nd and you can register on clubregistration.net (account required). For questions, contact the organizers Bruce Harris, bruce@hcrpa.org, and Amber Ashy, amber@hcrpca.org. If you have a specific dietary meal request, please contact Amber.
Dec 11: Sim Driving Catered Lunch and Tech Session at Porsche Austin
These are two separate, but associated, events at Porsche Austin on the same date!
First, we have a catered lunch by XSPACE, from 12:00pm-1:30pm. The purpose of the lunch is to introduce potential Sim Drivers to ways to start Sim Driving, and for existing Sim Drivers to network over lunch. Topics include computer hardware, iRacing platform, leagues, and chalk talk about tracks and cars. Recognition is included for the drivers who participated in the recent 8-event HCR series, with awards starting at 1:00pm. PLEASE NOTE: This is a separate event from the Tech Session, so if you would like to attend both events, please register for each one separately. We will have 30 minutes between both events for transition time.
Second, we have the Tech Session at Porsche Austin! The re-scheduled tech session for Hill County will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Porsche Austin will provide snacks, drinks, and door prizes.
A trio topics will be covered:
(1) an overview of popular options currently available;
(2) an illumination of the Porsche PDK dual-clutch transmission; and
(3) the history surrounding some dealer exclusive classic models.
The event is now open and attendance is capped at 60 participants, with a non-refundable $10 administrative fee per attendee. Before the event, attendees will be divided into three groups (A, B, & C) to rotate through the presentations.
If registration exceeds 60, Stacey will run a waitlist. Waivers will be required, and attendance cannot be confirmed until you verify your signature for the waiver through ClubReg.

Dec 18: Light Me Up Tour!
This will be our first evening tour. We are planning a drive out to Johnson City to see the twon Christmas lights. Johnson City really does it right. The Court House and town square are really lit up…so much so that it registers on some NASA Telescope! Seriously.
We will be meeting about 5ish in the evening, probably somewhere out at the Hill Country Galleria and drive straight out to Johnson City. Dinner is optional and there are several places to choose from. More details and dining spot recommendations will be forthcoming.
Details coming on the HCR Calendar along with link to registration.
