Here’s some new and updated events:

Mar 2: Ladies Lunch at The League Kitchen

Ladies, please join Michelle and the Ladies Luncheon group on their continuing dining adventure.  Our next Ladies Lunch is on Wednesday, March 2nd from 11:30am to 1:30pm, or whenever y’all want to leave (They’ve been known to stay for extended visits). Gathering is at 11:30 am at The League Kitchen and Tavern, located at 10526 W. Parmer Lane in Avery Ranch in Austin. If you are considering attending or have any questions,  please let Michelle know in advance.

Mar 2: HCR AX for Beginners – Zoom Session

This is a special Zoom event for new and prospective participants for our upcoming AX on March 12. The start time is 7:00pm. Alfred and team will review what an Autocross is, how to prepare your vehicle, how to navigate a course, schedule of events and Q&A.

To register for the Zoom session, please use this link:

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar.

Mar 3: Texas Sips & Sticks at Casa de Montecristo

This is a cigar and single malt whiskey tasting at our club sponsor, Casa de Montecristo. We are celebrating the first steps that on this date in 1835 ended up with Texas Independence. Our event is now set for Thursday, March 3 from 6pm-8pm. As with all our events, attendance is optional, and wearing a mask is optional (would be a funny pic of a cigar through a hole in a mask, though)

We will be tasting a selection of four single malt whiskey’s from Texas distilleries. Cost is $50pp payable at the door. That covers the whiskey tasting PLUS a premium cigar from the Casa humidor. Or you can skip the cigar and just do the whiskey tasting, or skip the whiskey and just have the cigar, but the cost is still $50pp. Snacks are also provided. Registration link is provided on the HCR Calendar, the event is capped at 20 attendees, and Ladies are invited! We have just a few spots still available.

Mar 5: Ladies Tech Session- Dealing with the Dealer

Ladies, join us at Cedro Scratch Italian & Wine Bar in Cedar Park, on Saturday, March 5 at 11:30a.m. This is a Ladies-Only Tech Session and includes a curated brunch (items ordered to be paid for by each participant). The restaurant is located at 14028 US-183, Ste 210, Austin, TX 78717

This Ladies Tech Session will give you an opportunity to up your game when visiting your local Porsche Dealer, from sales to service. We are pleased that this special Event will be led by our very knowledgeable member and prior-Porsche Austin Sales Consultant, Amber Ashy. Amber will not only give the ladies the inside scoop on what to expect from a dealer visit, but she will be more than happy to answer any questions you may have.

To ensure that your registration can be confirmed, please make sure that you pay the $10 registration fee during the registration process, out on clubregistration.net. If you miss it, just check your dashboard on clubreg for the event, and then you should be able to submit the fee that way.

Stacey and Amber look forward to hosting the ladies for this special event!

Mar 5: Porsche Austin Espresso’s and Exotics Car Show

This is a non-HCR event. Porsche Austin hosts their car show on March 5 from 9am-11am in the Arboretum Parking lot, in the area nearest to Porsche Austin (around the Barnes & Noble store). HCR will have a table set up at the event, staffed by your Board members. Come out and say “hi”. No registration necessary.

March 10: Lunch Bunch TBD

2nd Thursday monthly, noon

Mar 12: Spring Autocross at HEB Center in Cedar Park

After a very successful Fall 2021 Autocross, we will again be getting our adrenaline going at the H.E.B. Center at Cedar Park for our Spring 2022 event on March 12. Your club recently purchased brand new timing equipment that will not only be much easier for your AX team to use, but should help everyone get even more runs than last event. As before, we want to encourage as many PCA members to fill up our 60 maximum attendance. For anyone that has not participated in an autocross in the past, you should know that this is a safe and extremely fun event.

The AX team designs the course so that the top speeds are around 60mph, so very little wear and tear on your car. We plan on having an intro to Autocross Zoom call soon, for the newbies. On the morning of the autocross, we will conduct a novice walk to help everyone get comfortable with the course and have an idea as to how to navigate around the cones to achieve their best times. Lastly, we will have several autocross experts available to ride along with anyone that would like an instructor. At only $40 for PCA members, this is way more affordable than DE and takes place in a parking lot, not a track.

Your non-PCA friends can join us too for only $50. Registration is now open at https://clubregistration.net/events/signUp.cfm/event/12088.

Mar 17: Hoppy Hour Brewery Visit – TBD

3rd Thursday monthly, 5:00pm

Mar 19: “Octoberfest in March” Tour to Walburg

Our next Tour comes up on Saturday, March 19. Join your fellow HCR members as we head east from Georgetown on some twisty roads, with a tour put together by our Tourmaster of the North, Ken Kalin. We will loop back to have lunch at the outstanding Walburg German Restaurant.

Details will be on the HCR Calendar, with links to registration.

Mar 24: South Happy Hour at Vista Brewing

5:00pm – 7:00pm

13551 FM150 W, Driftwood, TX 78619

https://vistabrewingtx.com/

Great beer and wine selection along with good food. If the weather is nice, the outdoor seating is amazing with large heritage trees to sit under. Inside, there is a semi-private room and a large beer hall.

There is a 300m-long dirt road. It is pretty smooth and easily can be handled by any Porsche.

Mar 26: GT International Spring Car Show

Time: 10:00am – 1:30pm

Details forthcoming.

April 2: Texas Ramps Charitable Event

8:00am – noon-ish

Come join your fellow HCR members on April 2 as we support our new charity for 2022: The Texas Ramp Project. The charity has built more than 100 miles of wheelchair ramps for those in need in the Austin area, and we will help them continue this worthy endeavor.

The build project will be at a location in Bastrop county, and the project is expected to take 4 – 6 hours, beginning at 8am. Coffee and donuts will be on hand to help kick things off. Lunch will be provided as well.

Ramp sections are built in advance offsite by the charity. We come in on the day and assemble the sections into a complete ramp. In addition to tying the sections together, we’ll add wheelchair guides, uprights for handrails and the handrails. A TR build captain will be with us full time to make sure all goes well.

You don’t need to bring anything, but if you want to bring a cordless screwdriver/drill and carpenter's tool belt you certainly can. The charity organizer provides a power tool for anyone who needs one. If you are bringing a cordless screwdriver/drill let us know. (All the ramp connections are made with wood screws.)

A good crew size for a typical ramp is about 15 so we’re looking for at least 15 volunteers to join us on April 2. No experience required!! Come join us!!

Registration opens on Monday on ClubReg.

April 9: Tech Session at Caliber Collision on Metric

9:00am – noon

It’s time to go visit Caliber Collision on Metric, and see why they are one of only two body shops in Austin certified by Porsche to work on our P-Cars. This is the location that Porsche Austin sends cars to for body repairs. We held a tech session there a couple of years ago and it was a major hit! (pun intended).

We will have the usual breakfast tacos and coffee for participants. Additional details and registration link is on the HCR Calendar.

April 23: Cars. Coffee & Croissants at Mozart’s Coffee Roasters

9:00am – noon

Details forthcoming.

February 25-27: Winter SchnellFest at COTA

SchnellFest was a huge event this past weekend, with 200+ participants. The Intro to DE program successfully ran on Friday, and was maxed out in the participants. Socially-distanced socials were provided on Friday and Saturday for all participants, even though the weather was a bit damp and cool. (THANKS GT International for sponsoring!). Parade Laps for Charity were also run on Saturday and Sunday, with a good turnout and donations.

Thanks to all who made this Winter SchnellFest HPDE a huge success!

Our objective continues to be to keep our membership up to date on what is going on in HCR, as well as PCA nationally. Please remember, our goal is to deliver events where members can choose their level of participation. We will continue to stress safe and fun events!

If any questions or comments, please let me know.
