Mar 19: “Octoberfest in March” Tour to Walburg
Our next Tour comes up on Saturday, March 19. Join your fellow HCR members as we head east from Georgetown on some twisty roads, with a tour put together by our Tourmaster of the North, Ken Kalin. We will loop back to have lunch at the outstanding Walburg German Restaurant.

Mar 24: South Happy Hour at Vista Brewing
5:30pm – 7:30pm
13551 FM150 W, Driftwood, TX 78619
Great beer and wine selection along with good food. If the weather is nice, the outdoor seating is amazing with large heritage trees to sit under. Inside, there is a semi-private room and a large beer hall. There is a 300m-long dirt road leading into the brewery. It is pretty smooth and easily can be handled by any Porsche.
April 2: Texas Ramps Charitable Event
8:00am – noon-ish
Come join your fellow HCR members on April 2 as we support our new charity for 2022: The Texas Ramp Project. The charity has built more than 100 miles of wheelchair ramps for those in need in the Austin area, and we will help them continue this worthy endeavor.
The build project will be at a location in Bastrop county, and the project is expected to take 4 – 6 hours, beginning at 8am. Coffee and donuts will be on hand to help kick things off. Lunch will be provided as well.
Ramp sections are built in advance offsite by the charity. We come in on the day and assemble the sections into a complete ramp. In addition to tying the sections together, we’ll add wheelchair guides, uprights for handrails and the handrails. A TR build captain will be with us full time to make sure all goes well.
Registrants will be asked in ClubReg if they can bring a cordless drill/screwdriver. (All the ramp connections are made with wood screws.) Additional tools will be available onsite.
A good crew size for a typical ramp is about 15 so we’re looking for at least 15 volunteers to join us on April 2. No experience required!! Come join us!!
Registration can be accessed through the HCR Calendar.

April 9: Tech Session at Caliber Collision on Metric
9:00am – noon
It’s time to go visit Caliber Collision on Metric, and see why they are one of only two body shops in Austin certified by Porsche to work on our P-Cars. This is the location that Porsche Austin sends cars to for body repairs. We held a tech session there a couple of years ago and it was a major hit! (pun intended).
We will have the usual breakfast tacos and coffee for participants. Additional details and registration link is on the HCR Calendar.

May 14: GT International Spring Car Show (note new date)
Time: 10:00am – 2:00pm
GTI has decided to reprise their well-attended fall car show and add one in the spring. The show is Saturday May 14 at GT International, 611 E. Braker Lane, Austin (I-35 and Braker) from 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM.
The format for the show will be the same as the fall format last year. They will set aside dedicated parking for HCR and Porsche owners. We’ll have our usual wash and shine “concours” with prizes for Best of Show, Best Water Cooled and Best Air Cooled. Best of Show will receive a Premium Membership to GTI. March 10: Lunch Bunch, Jack Allen’s Kitchen in Round Rock
Lunch Bunch last Thursday had about 20 or so attendees. As always, Jack Allen’s had excellent luncheon fare (the Special that day was killer), and we had a couple of new members join us for lunch. Great food and great conversation…can’t beat it.
Mar 12: Spring Autocross at HEB Center in Cedar Park
The AX Event on Saturday had about 50 of 57 registrants show up (yes, 27 degrees that morning was apparently too cold for a few registrants). But the day was sunny and quickly warmed up to about 60 degrees. Pretty ideal, and everyone got lots of runs in. Thanks to all the volunteers, plus our sponsors XPel Austin and ClubRegistration.net brought in donuts, coffee and breakfast tacos!
NON-HCR Events
Longhorn Region announces their annual Fiesta Challenge, set for April 9-10. All proceeds are for charity. The feature event is a 4-person golf scramble on the 10th with an entry fee of $85. More information, events, and registration can be found at ClubRegistration.net.
Also, for those of you planning to do Boxtoberfest this year, the dates are Sept 9-11 in Fredericksburg. The Longhorn Region also puts on this event, and the host hotel is the Hanger Hotel. I have no other details at this time, but if you think you might want to attend, I suggest making your hotel reservations soon, as the hotel typically sells out for this event.
Our objective continues to be to keep our membership up to date on what is going on in HCR, as well as PCA nationally. Please remember, our goal is to deliver events where members can choose their level of participation. We will continue to stress safe and fun events!
If any questions or comments, please let me know.
