I will provide summaries and links to each event here that will take you to our calendar, where you can get all the details on the event, including registration links, as appropriate. Event registrations will still occur within ClubRegistration.net, with all necessary waiver forms.

Ladies Lunch Bunch
The July Ladies Lunch will be held on Wednesday, July 7. Jack Allen’s Kitchen, on West Anderson Lane in Austin, is the destination. Attendance is limited to 20, and details will post soon on our club calendar including registration link.

Lunch Bunch
Lunch Bunch is set for the second Thursday of the month. The July Lunch Bunch will be held on Thursday, July 8 and location is J&J Barbeque & Burgers. Check out the details on the HCR calendar: July Lunch Bunch

UPDATE: July Driving Tour: BBQ and Ice Cream!
Our next tour will be on July 24, presented by Driving Adventures USA. Breakfast will be provided by Torqqe Performance, another HCR sponsor and advertiser. I know, I know…it may be hot. So what? Our tour will feature twisty and scenic roads, BBQ lunch in one town, ice cream in another town (to keep you cool), and plenty of back road driving to satisfy you and your P-car.
We will start off at Torqqe Performance in Oak Hill (9300 Highway 290 W). Torqqe is providing breakfast tacos and coffee (restrooms too).

Looking Back
German Motor Gathering in Boerne
I’m pleased to report that we had 50 cars and about 70 total participants on our drive to Boerne for the German Motor Gathering event. WOW!
HOWEVER, we had 19 drivers who were registered and confirmed, and did not show up. That’s a problem, because we waitlisted a bunch of registrants who couldn’t attend because we filled up our confirmed registrants…that’s not fair to those who wanted to attend but didn’t get to go. Folks, if you are confirmed for an event, you are taking up a spot, and if you can’t attend, you owe it to those on the waitlist to cancel and allow us to fill more spots from the waitlist.
OK, I’m off my soapbox now.
Everyone had tour directions and a map of downtown Boerne with our route to the show entrance. Our 50-car group all left at one time from Oak Hill, and we allowed the stop lights along Hwy 290W to naturally split up our big group into smaller drive groups, which worked pretty well. We had a nice back road to skirt around Blanco, then finished with the straight shot down Hwy 281 and 46 into Blanco.
We arrived at the show location around 9:45am, and everyone knew HCR had arrived! We had all 50 cars lined up to enter our own “HCR Porsche Corral”, which was the street next to the event park, and our members lined up on both sides of the street. A couple of us peeled off to put our cars in the show, on the grassy area in the park. But, I had lots of event goers come up to me and remark how they just kept watching Porsches pull into the corral, and seemed like “the cars just kept coming in”. (I love it when HCR makes a grand entrance and big splash…just sayin’).
Everyone told me later how much they appreciated us organizing the drive and all had a great time. We enjoyed the car show and all the German vehicles (yes, there was even a German WWII jeep that had survived not only the war but also Hurricane Katrina…very cool restored ragtop car). Lots of us took advantage of the restaurants in the area, too.
A big tip of the cap to our Tourmaster, Chris McChesney, who surfaced the idea of having HCR attend the event and got us well-organized. Many thanks to all our members who participated (I met several new members) and helped the event raise money for Autism Speaks. HCR will make a nice donation to the charity in the next few days, with the money we raised from the car corral.
And I’d be remiss if I also didn’t mention this: HCR’s own John Brindley scored a “Best in Class” win in the air-cooled class with his 1987 911 Targa. WAY TO GO, JOHN!
All in all, we had a great day in Boerne, HCR “showed up and showed well”, and I personally enjoyed a nice spirited drive back home on the backroads with my son.
Our objective continues to be to keep our membership up to date on what is going on in HCR, as well as PCA nationally. Please remember, our goal is to deliver events that allow you to participate safely, and to ensure you have fun!
