SPECIAL MESSAGES:
ATTENTION:
HCR announces a new event especially tailored for wine and food
enthusiasts. We are hosting a gourmet wine and food pairing at the Siena
restaurant on the evening of Tuesday, October 25, from 6:00 to 9:00. A
certified sommelier has collaborated with the executive chef at the restaurant
to create a memorable evening of food and wine with seven small plate courses
and five different wines.
I’ve posted it below in the "Future Events" section, with
a link to the event details on the HCR Calendar. Bob Hieronymus states that
registration should open this week on ClubReg, so be watching for that.
Please note that there is a limit of 30 attendees, and registration
will close early on October 8th. So this one is going
to open for only about 3 weeks before it closes (we have to hit a F&B
minimum by then). So don’t delay in registering if interested.
Loads of events this past week. Check out the "In The Rearview Mirror" section below for summary of all
the events and wrap-ups.

Tire Rack Street Survival for Teens
The report from the event yesterday is that it was probably our best ever TRSS session! I’d like to join our event
coordinator, Tuffy von Briesen, in expressing my thanks to all our
volunteers for their time and talent in putting on the event. We now have
30 more teen drivers equipped with better car handling skills on our roads. And
planning has already begun for the next class in Spring 2023!
I would also like to express my appreciation to our two members
who organized the event, and coordinated everything, from Tire Rack
registrations to food for participants and volunteers, to effectively running
the course and classroom elements of the day. Congratulations to Tuffy von
Briesen and Lenny Zwik for not only restarting the program post-COVID after a 3
year layoff, but running what I consider to be the
best program of it’s kind across PCA. Thanks guys!

Lunch Bunch
Twenty-two members, including one new member, enjoyed great food
and a comfortable atmosphere at the recently opened Z’Tejas in Avery Ranch last
week. Everyone dined on the large covered patio
in the back. The overhead fans were spinning, but the misters were not required
to keep everyone comfortable. There was a unanimous thumbs-up for the food and
the location. We will be going back. Nicely done, Bob!
Sept 8
Breaking Bread in South Austin
I’m happy to report that our inaugural monthly luncheon at Easy
Tiger in South Austin was a smash hit! Danelle O’Neill, event host, has
personal access to an Austin "foodie" professional, and this was the
number 1 choice on her list for lunch down south. It didn’t disappoint! We had
20 members attend, including two new members all of two weeks old in the HCR
fold. Lunch on the upstairs veranda, and the bakery, were stellar,
too! Thanks Danelle!
Sept 7
Ladies Luncheon at Dos Mary’s
Michelle reports that the September Ladies Lunch was another nice event and everyone had a great time. She notes that the
ladies had the pleasure of meeting first-time attendee,
Bonnie. Ladies, thank you all for the warm HCRPA
welcome extended to Bonnie! WTG Michelle!
