SPECIAL MESSAGES:
Fall Autocross is coming on Saturday, October 15. Alfred and
team have sourced a new location for this event, out in Hutto. The parking lot
to be used is HUGE, has great asphalt, and has no course obstacles like light
stanchions. Alfred has taken full advantage of the space to work up a new
course layout that promises to be fun and challenging! Full details and
registration link is on our HCR Calendar. Sign up now, as there are
still about 10 spots available.
I’m very pleased to
announce that HCR now has a "Classifieds" section on our website!
It’s available to HCR members to post their Porsche cars and Porsche-related
items for sale. This is similar to how The Mart works
on the PCA website, in that all we are doing is allowing sellers and buyers to
connect. HCR assumes no liability for items bought and sold on the site. I get
lots of questions from members who want to sell a Porsche-related item and
give preference to HCR members . . . our new Classifieds section is the answer.
When a
member posts an item for sale, the post will be held in suspense a short time
for review. When our Classifieds coordinator approves the post, the
ad will go "live" for 30 days. Extensions are possible, but it
is the responsibility of the seller to manage their own post(s) and keep them
renewed, if they so choose.
Loads
of events this past week. Check out the "In The
Rearview Mirror" section below for summary of all the events and wrap-ups.

Sept 17 Tech Session at Porsche South
Austin
Terrific
session on Saturday with 25 attendees. Topics were PCM 101 (very helpful), the
Porsche Tech certification process, and the Porsche technology and systems that
make a Porsche, well, a Porsche. Breakfast tacos were fantastic (S. Austin taco
truck, so no question they were going to be good), and great staff at Porsche South
Austin. This was the first tech session for our new Tech Session Coordinator,
Charles Crooks, and his assistant, Simon Freed. Many thanks to everyone who
made this session possible.
Sept 15 Brewery Night at Central Machine
Works
Another
good turnout (15) at our monthly Brewery Night, with three new members showing
up! Greg Lee did his usual excellent job of sourcing a great brewery venue with
tasty food. All engaged in spirited conversations about the
"treasures" owned or present, including a 992 Targa, Turbo, 718, 997
rebuild and a classic 356!
Sept 12 & 15 Signing Events with Riley
Dickinson
We
had big turnouts at Porsche Austin (12th) and Porsche South Austin
(15th) for the signing event with HCR member, Riley Dickinson. His Carrera
Cup car was a huge draw for everyone, and lots of members got a chance to sit
behind the wheel and get a glimpse of what he controls during a race. Porsche
Austin had cool swag for anyone wanting an autograph, and Riley was very
gracious with his time and his sharpie! Lots of photo ops, too! Many thanks
also to Porsche Austin and Porsche South Austin for hosting the events!
Sept 12 Porsche Austin Delivery Experience
at COTA
During
the afternoon and evening, Porsche Austin and Porsche South Austin hosted their
very popular PADE event at COTA. About 20 new Porsche customers were treated to
track time (in their own car or a PCNA car), a hot lap with Riley in his
Carrera Cup car (WOW!!!), with a social and dinner afterwards. I’m happy
to report that I ran across lots of new Porsche owners who weren’t familiar
with PCA, but by the end of the evening they were well-versed in our club…we
had two new members join up before I even made it back to the house . .
. Yay!
