Member Update: 9/6/21

NEW and UPDATE events are highlighted below.

SPECIAL NOTE!!

In last week’s issue of the PCA e-Brake (in your email inbox), I noticed an HCR member submitted a photo of their car in front of a terrific sunset and longhorn for Photo of the Month. The member’s name is Justin McGuire, and the date on his photo is August 3. I’m asking all of HCR to jump into their e-Brake, check out the photos, and if you think Justin’s photo should win, by all means vote for him!

(I did).

Sim Driving League, sponsored by XSpace, is forming

We are excited to announce a brand new activity for our members! Richard Pankhurst has been feverishly working to launch a Sim Racing League for HCR.  We are going to start this virtual driving league to give our members another fun and exciting Porsche-focused activity. Some of us took the Sim wheel at Parade last month, and it was an absolute challenge and a big blast of fun! Our HCR league will use the iRacing platform (same as PCA uses for it’s league) and our series will run from mid-September through November.

We have a kick-off party scheduled for September 11 at Steiner Ranch Steakhouse (patio) from 4pm-7pm, sponsored by XSPACE. RSVP required, with number attending, to: Richard Pankhurst.

As we are just now starting this new league, we are welcoming members who already drive on iRacing OR are tech savvy and have access to a higher-end PC with pedals and a steering wheel.

If you don’t have access to the hardware and want to spectate, stay tuned as there will be options to do some GTG’s (get together’s) to watch some of Hill Country’s finest drivers, including Riley Dickinson, who races in the IMSA Racing Porsche GT3 Cup.

Please contact Richard if you are interested in jumping into the league, at:

Richard@hcrpca.org.

SAVE THE DATE- Porsche / Ferrari Car Show and Concours

Here’s what you’ve all been waiting for: Porsche vs. Ferrari! OK, it’s a Car Show and Concours, not LeMans. But still, we want a big showing of support for our favorite beloved marque, Porsche! HCR member John Brindley has been planning the day in earnest with his Ferrari counterpart, and the venue is none other than Moorespeed. The date is Sunday, October 10. It looks like we will have the show on the grassy field in front of Moorespeed, and the plans include several classes of entries. Entry fee is $25 to enter the Concours.

Event information, with registration to appear hopefully this week here:

SAVE THE DATE! Our intrepid Special Events Coordinator, Amber Ashy, is coordinating this event for us. The date is October 16 and the location is Mozart’s Coffee Roasters at 3825 Lake Austin Blvd. The event runs from 9am-noon. We will have a 40-car Porsche Corral out in front, with another parking lot available for overflow parking. We need the Corral filled up with P-Cars throughout the event, so registration will be needed.

Fall Autocross

Our Fall Autocross is on Saturday, November 13 at the HEB Center in Cedar Park. At the last Autocross, we had a bunch of individuals from outside of PCA that joined us. While this is great from a financial perspective, our goal is to fill up the 60-person roster with PCA members. This event is now open to the public, and will fill up quickly, so don’t delay.

Event details and registration link will be here this week:

Looking Back

Porsche Austin hosted their inaugural Customer Delivery Experience at COTA last Thursday. Jane Ann and I attended, as did Tuffy and Sheri, plus 18 other couples (hopefully all soon-to-be HCR members). There are some posts on both the HCR and Porsche Austin Facebook pages with photos. In short, it was an absolute blast of an event! Highly recommended, and Porsche Austin is targeting to hold the event quarterly, with a limit of 20 cars, and focused on customers of PA recently buying new/pre-owned vehicles. It’s sort of like the U.S. version of the European Delivery experience. COTA with a small field of cars AND an instructor for an hour, with after-drive full bar AND a top-notch catered dinner…can’t touch that! (Cue up  M.C. Hammer)

Our objective continues to be to keep our membership up to date on what is going on in HCR, as well as PCA nationally. Please remember, our goal is to deliver events that allow you to participate safely, and to ensure you have fun!

If any questions or comments, please let me know.
