A Special Message from Schnell Fest Organizers
Ever
wonder what kind of performance your Porsche is really
capable of? Well, here’s how to discover your car’s real potential
in a controlled environment – not on the public roads. Like many other
regions, we offer High Performance Drivers Education (HPDE) to our members.
PCA
High Performance Driver Education (HPDE) at COTA – February 25th &
26th
This
Porsche Club of America Driver Education event is a joint presentation of the
Hill Country, Lone Star and Maverick Regions – PCA, with the support of our
good friends at the Houston Chapter BMW-CCA. We call these events at COTA the
"Austin Schnell Fests" to emphasize the fact that these events are
not just for Porsche or BMW Drivers – drivers of every make are invited to
participate, and membership in PCA or BMW-CCA is not necessary.
We
still have room in our Novice run group for anyone interested in HPDE in your
car on the Circuit of the Americas F1 track. You’d experience eight,
roughly ½ hour, track sessions over the two days with a PCA registered
instructor riding with you. You will be in constant communication with
your instructor over a 2-way communications headset and you’ll also attend four
Novice classroom sessions to reinforce what you learn on the track.
CLICK HERE for the link to
registration on Club Registration.net. On this page you’ll find our
Austin Schnell Fest Handbook listed under Event Files. This handbook
contains a wealth of information about the event. You can download the
handbook without registering if you just want to read more.

Parade
Laps at COTA
Not
ready for a full two days of instructed track experience, but curious what the
COTA track looks like up close and personal? We offer parade laps on both
Saturday and Sunday at noon. Parade laps are led by a registered PCA
instructor who will “drive the line”, with all participants following
behind. No helmets are required, and parade laps can be driven in any
vehicle, but you know your Porsche really wants to go! We ask for a $20.00,
cash only, donation which adds to the club’s charity funds for the year.
If
you come out for the parade laps, we invite you to stay for the afternoon to
watch cars on track and mingle with the drivers and instructors in the paddock
and garages. We’d also invite you to attend our Driver’s social at 5:00
PM on Saturday, where you’ll hear how everyone’s track day stacked up, and
enjoy a complimentary glass of wine or beer and snacks.
If
you’d like any more information on either registering for the Schnell Fest or
driving parade laps, email George Hansen, the DE Registrar at george@hcrpca.org.
