SPECIAL MESSAGES:

The annual Holiday Party on Friday was "best one ever". Those are not my words…I’ve heard that statement relayed to me from countless members who obviously had a terrific evening! More details below in "The Rearview Mirror".

We’ve got a new type of event spinning up, after a couple of successful tests this past Fall. The Social team has come up with a Wine Social event on January 17. It’s wine tasting at its best, to afford lots of socializing and discussing different types of wine. More details will be posted on the website calendar this week with registration to follow on club registration.net. This may become a quarterly event, if members show continued interest.

Dec 4     December GTG at Rudy’s on 620

We had a huge turnout this morning at Rudy’s, despite gray and overcast skies. About 30 cars showed up and tons of drivers and passengers. I met two new members: Steve joined just this morning and beat a path out to Rudy’s to join us! Ian is 18, a senior at Austin HS, and bought his 987 Boxster just a few months ago…he’s an entrepreneur running two businesses already! Welcome Steve and Ian!

Dec 3     Porsches & Coffee at Werks 11

A bunch of us ran up to Troy, TX yesterday to check out the new digs for Julian and the team at Werks 11. In short, it’s a great facility that they’ve acquired. Everything is set up and staged, almost like an assembly plant process. The more complete the car, the closer it resides to the front of the building. Paint booth and engine work is in-house now, so Werks 11 is that one-stop shop for all your restoration and maintenance needs. The new facility sits about 5 miles north of the previous location, just off IH-35.

Dec 2      Holiday Party

As I mentioned above, great party on Friday night! We had about 130 in attendance, in a much better space than we’ve had in recent years. Food and beverage selections were excellent. Lakeway PD showed up just as dinner was winding down, and collected so many Toys For Tots that we filled up two SUV patrol vehicles. Many thanks to all who contributed with their unwrapped gift! Our silent auction and raffles brought in about $4,500, which will go toward our two charities we support: Texas Burn Survivors Society and Texas Ramps. A special note of thanks to all our donors and sponsors: Hi-Tech Motorcars, Porsche Austin, Porsche South Austin, XPEL Austin, GT International, and Tom Emr ( donations from the Tom Erdmann collection). Best ever Holiday Party, most attendees, and most money raised for our charities….nice! Quite nice!
