Member Update: 2/18/24

Spring Autocross is coming up fast on March 2, 2024.  For those who have not  participated in an Autocross, here are some basic facts:  It is a 1 day event driving around a course made out of cones in a large parking lot.  Though accidents are very unlikely most insurance carriers would consider an accident in a “parking lot” to be covered.  Everyone gets 1 practice run and up to 10 timed runs.  It is open to both PCA members and non-members, but there are PCA only classes and the winner of each class gets a trophy.   Max speeds are around 60mph, but with almost 30 turns over .4 miles, so you will get an amazing adrenaline rush while seeing just how great Porsches are at turns.  No-cost instructors are available for ride-alongs.  See all of the details at https://hcrpca.org/event/spring-2024-autocross/.

Do you know we have a free Classified service available to HCR members? It’s on our website at “hcrpca.org” and is simple to use. Just click the Classifieds drop down and fill out the form. You can sell anything Porsche using this service!

Here is what is happening in the Region.

2/24/2024 – Saturday – Come join us for the first Schnell Fest of the year at COTA!  This is a regular HPDE event put on by the HCR, Lone Star and Maverick regions.  While you have to register separately for the driving event to be on track, you are welcome to join the Saturday track social catered by COTA at 5pm.  There will be an assortment of sliders, beer, wine, soft drinks and water.  The event is open to all drivers and anyone in HCR that wishes to join and explore COTA and see what happens on an HPDE weekend.  A perfect opportunity to see the cars participating in the event and to talk to the drivers as well.

Some points to highlight.  You must stop at the booth in the back of the track to sign the COTA and PCA waivers.  You will then receive a wristband which you must wear while on the premises.  Minor children are welcome but a legal guardian must sign a minor waiver. Pets are not allowed.

If you have never been to COTA please allow extra time to gain entry into the paddock area, find a place to park and find the room where the social is being held.  Paddock Loft 201 is above the garages.  Please ask anyone there for assistance if you are unsure of where to go.
