Member Update: 2/5/23

You will find this weeks’ update on all events below, but first we need some help ….

Teen Street Survival

Hill Country Region has a long history of community service as well as members stepping up to volunteer their time when needed.

Coming up in March is the Tire Rack Street Survival for teen drivers which HCR will conduct on March 25th. This program is just another example of our Region’s commitment to community service. Members hold classes, work the track and act as instructor/coaches in the cars along side the students.

TRSS requires a great effort for our Region. Lenny Zwik, facilitator for Street Survival has identified a need for an additional six coaches and up to eight general volunteers.

Tire Rack Street Survival for teens will be held on March 25, 2023 at the Public Safety Training Center located at Austin Community College in Kyle.

Please consider volunteering your time and knowledge to support this worthwhile activity. Contact either Lenny at “lzwik@austin.rr.com” or Carl “carl@hcrpca.org“.

February 25th & 26th – PCA High Performance Driver Education (HPDE) at COTA

This Porsche Club of America Driver Education event is a joint presentation of the Hill Country, Lone Star and Maverick Regions – PCA, with the support of our good friends at the Houston Chapter BMW-CCA. We call these events at COTA the “Austin Schnell Fests” to emphasize the fact that these events are not just for Porsche or BMW Drivers – drivers of every make are invited to participate, and membership in PCA or BMW-CCA is not necessary.

We still have room in our Novice run group for anyone interested in HPDE in your car on the Circuit of the Americas F1 track.  You’d experience eight, roughly ½ hour, track sessions over the two days with a PCA registered instructor riding with you.  You will be in constant communication with your instructor over a 2-way communications headset and you’ll also attend four Novice classroom sessions to reinforce what you learn on the track.

CLICK HERE for the link to registration on Club Registration.net.  On this page you’ll find our Austin Schnell Fest Handbook listed under Event Files.  This handbook contains a wealth of information about the event.  You can download the handbook without registering if you just want to read more.
