October 2: Porsche vs Ferrari at Moorespeed
Our second annual Moorespeed Porsche vs Ferrari Concours is scheduled for Sunday October 2, 2022, at Moorespeed, 7910 Burleson Road, Austin (near Austin Bergstrom International Airport). The Hill Country Region of PCA and the Ferrari Club of Austin are jointly coordinating this event.
This is a fun concours where you have an opportunity to show off your Porsche against the best from the Ferrari Club of Austin. If you recall last year's event, we had about 50 judged Porsches and Ferraris and about 50 display cars. Overall attendance was about 250 people.
Both categories are Porsche and Ferrari only. We are capping the judged category at 50 total cars. Please note this is 50 total cars not 50 Porsches and 50 Ferraris. We will assign judged cars to a specific class depending upon year built and there will be head-to-head competition between the two marques. The number of classes will be determined based on registration. Judged cars are eligible for awards based on the judging. We anticipate some very nice prizes. There is a $50.00 registration fee for the judged category.
The second category will be display cars. These cars are not judged and there will be no awards. There is no cap on the display cars. There is a $25.00 registration fee if you want to enter the display category.
Each judged car and display car will receive a commemorative “swag bag” and special Porsche vs Ferrari T Shirts.
We’ll again have food and beverages available at the event. Numerous sponsors are supporting this event.
Registration opens on Aug 1. Details on the HCR Calendar.
Sept 17: Tech Session at Porsche South Austin
9am – noon
We have worked closely with PSA to develop an agenda that will interest every facet of Porsche owners and drivers. In particular, this includes all those ladies who own and/or drive a Porsche. Our format would be the same as our last successful tech session at the PA facility in northwest Austin. We will divide everyone into three groups and offer three topics simultaneously, each lasting about 20 – 25 minutes each. At the completion of each topic, the groups would rotate to the next topic.
Topics include:
- Navigating the Porsche Communications Management System (PCMS).
- Why does a Porsche feel like a Porsche?
- Porsche technician training and certification.
More details and registration can be found on our HCR Calendar.

July 14: Lunch Bunch – Saltgrass Steakhouse
Looked like a pretty well-attended lunch, from our pics on FB!
July 16: GT International Summer Car Show at Rough Hollow
We filled up our 30-spot HCR Porsche Corral, and there were even more Porsches that showed up! Lots of cool non-Porsches, too. I apologize that the food and beverage booths were a no-show…not sure what happened with the organizers on that one. Pics on FB.
Our objective continues to be to keep our members up to date on all our planned events in HCR, Zone 5 and PCA nationally, and those of our sponsors and advertisers. Please remember: our goal is to deliver events where members can choose their level of participation, and we will continue to stress safe and fun events!
Thanks.
