First, I want to let the membership know that Rob Price’s father passed away about a week ago. Rob serves on our Executive Council as an At-Large member, has been a past President of HCR, and is the PCA National Chair for the TireRack.com Street Survival Program. Rob and his family are doing okay, and there are no announcements yet on services or memorial.
On the heels of our recent announcement last week that closed indoor events until further notice, I’d like to express my thanks to the many members who reached out to me with your words of thanks and appreciation for our decision to close indoor events. Your support is encouraging! The Board is working on filling in some resulting holes in our calendar with other events, like some more tours and possibly some “unofficial get togethers”. Stay tuned for more details.
Several official events on our calendar obviously have been cancelled. I’ll run through those briefly here:
- Lunch Bunch for August was cancelled.
- Lunch Bunch for September is “iffy”…if Bob H. can come up with an outdoor dining spot in the next couple of weeks, so stay tuned.
- Happy Hour for August 19 is cancelled.
- Tech Session at HD Motorsports on Saturday, Aug 21 is cancelled. (HD Motorsports cancelled)
- Ladies Lunch for September is cancelled.
- SchnellFest on Sept 17-19 is cancelled (COTA cancelled).
- Tire Rack Street Survival cancelled for Oct 16.
NEW: Horizons is Coming!
We are returning to print for our quarterly newsletter, Horizons. The summer issue is at the printer and should be mailed out in the next 1-2 weeks. Watch your mailbox! And a humongous “THANK YOU” to the Horizons team for getting us back into the hard copy mode for Horizons.

Sept Tech Session at Porsche Austin
Our first tech session at the new location in NW Austin is set for Saturday, Sept 25th and is now posted in our calendar and ready for registrations. Attendance is will be capped at 60, so don’t delay your registration!

NEW: SAVE THE DATE- Porsche / Ferrari Car Show and Concours
Here’s what you’ve all been waiting for: Porsche vs. Ferrari! OK, it’s a Car Show and Concours, not LeMans. But still, we want a big showing of support for our favorite beloved marque, Porsche! HCR member John Brindley has been planning the day in earnest with his Ferrari counterpart, and the venue is none other than Moorespeed. It looks like we will have the show on the grassy field in front of Moorespeed, and the plans include several classes of entries. Entry fee is $25 to enter the Concours.

NEW: Cars, Coffee and Croissants
Our intrepid Special Events Coordinator, Amber Ashy, is coordinating this event for us. The date is October 16 and the location is Mozart’s Coffee Roasters at 3825 Lake Austin Blvd. Watch the HCR Calendar for more details coming.
Fall Autocross Confirmed
We have great news! We have now scheduled our Fall Autocross on Saturday, November 13 at the HEB Center in Cedar Park. At the last Autocross, we had a bunch of individuals from outside of PCA that joined us. While this is great from a financial perspective, our goal is to fill up the 60-person roster with PCA members. To that end, we are offering registration opportunities to our PCA membership before we open it up to the general public on August 23. This event is now open for registration, but is hidden. Looking Back
Michelle wishes to express a BIG THANK YOU to Gloria Hughes, Carla James, and Gail Rossi for their help with the August 4th Ladies Lunch! It was a huge success, once again. The Ladies Lunch is on a roll and they are scouting new places for rest of the year!
Our objective continues to be to keep our membership up to date on what is going on in HCR, as well as PCA nationally. Please remember, our goal is to deliver events that allow you to participate safely, and to ensure you have fun!
