Sim Driving League, sponsored by XSpace, is forming

We are excited to announce a brand new activity for our members! Richard Pankhurst has been feverishly working to launch a Sim Racing League for HCR.  We are going to start this virtual driving league to give our members another fun and exciting Porsche-focused activity. Some of us took the Sim wheel at Parade last month, and it was an absolute challenge and a big blast of fun!

Our HCR league will use the iRacing platform (same as PCA uses for it’s league) and our series will run from mid-September through November. We have a kick-off party scheduled for September 11 at Steiner Ranch Steakhouse (patio) from 4pm-7pm, sponsored by XSPACE. Watch for registration coming soon.

As we are just now starting this new league, we are welcoming members who already drive on iRacing OR are tech saavy and have access to a higher-end PC with pedals and a steering wheel.

If you don’t have access to the hardware and want to spectate, stay tuned as there will be options to do some GTG’s (get togethers) to watch some of Hill Country’s finest drivers, including Riley Dickinson, who races in the IMSA Racing Porsche GT3 Cup.

Please contact Richard if you are interested in jumping into the league, at:

Richard@hcrpca.org.

NEW: Tour to Black’s BBQ in New Braunfels

For those that may remember, we had to cancel this tour earlier in the year due to a deluge of rain. Chris McChesney has resurrected the tour, and the date is Saturday, September 18. Details and registration link will be found soon on the HCR Calendar. Watch for it this next week.

Sept Tech Session at Porsche Austin

Our first tech session at the new location in NW Austin is set for Saturday, Sept 25th and is now posted in our calendar and ready for registrations. Attendance is will be capped at 60, so don’t delay your registration!

Event details and registration links are in the HCR Calendar.

SAVE THE DATE- Porsche / Ferrari Car Show and Concours

Here’s what you’ve all been waiting for: Porsche vs. Ferrari! OK, it’s a Car Show and Concours, not LeMans. But still, we want a big showing of support for our favorite beloved marque, Porsche! HCR member John Brindley has been planning the day in earnest with his Ferrari counterpart, and the venue is none other than Moorespeed. The date is Sunday, October 10. It looks like we will have the show on the grassy field in front of Moorespeed, and the plans include several classes of entries. Entry fee is $25 to enter the Concours.

You can find more information, with registration soon to appear here:

Cars, Coffee and Croissants

Our intrepid Special Events Coordinator, Amber Ashy, is coordinating this event for us. The date is October 16 and the location is Mozart’s Coffee Roasters at 3825 Lake Austin Blvd. Watch the HCR Calendar for more details coming.

NEW: Tour to Belton and Beyond

Save the Date! On October 30, our newest Tourmaster, Ken Kalin, has a big route planned for us that finishes in Belton, with an optional lunch. More details and registration link to post here soon.

Fall Autocross

Our Fall Autocross is on Saturday, November 13 at the HEB Center in Cedar Park. At the last Autocross, we had a bunch of individuals from outside of PCA that joined us. While this is great from a financial perspective, our goal is to fill up the 60-person roster with PCA members. To that end, we are offering registration opportunities to our PCA membership before we open it up to the general public on August 23. This event is now open for registration, but is hidden. If you are interested, please follow this link to access the event and register:  Fall AX Registration

NEW: Petrol Lounge/HCR New Members’ Social, presented by XPEL Austin

Save the Date! On Saturday, November 20, Petrol Lounge will host this event at their new location at 2631 Kramer Lane in Austin. It’s bigger and waaaay better than their former location. This event is for all members, and especially our members who joined us in 2021. But everyone is invited. Registration details coming soon.

Looking Back

No official events this past week, although we had some unofficial gatherings. Also, Chris McChesney, Kent Ketterman (HCR Community Service Coordinator) and I drove to San Antonio this past Thursday to present our annual donation check of $2,000 from HCR to the Texas Burn Survivor Society. Posts are on Facebook and Kent is doing an article for the next Horizons issue.

Our objective continues to be to keep our membership up to date on what is going on in HCR, as well as PCA nationally. Please remember, our goal is to deliver events that allow you to participate safely, and to ensure you have fun!

If any questions or comments, please let me know.
