The 3rd annual Porsche vs. Ferrari Shootout is coming soon and we need your help!
This is a request for volunteers to serve as Judges on Saturday October 14th at Moorespeed. A low-stress Concours, this year we expect approximately 65 cars to be entered in the five classes which will be made up of 25 Porsche’s and 25 Ferrari’s plus 15 special cars in an Invitational bracket.
Judges will be paired up with a partner to evaluate the interior and exterior of each car. Taking about 10 minutes per car, each team will evaluate 4 cars. No need for prior experience, as detailed scoring sheets will be provided and an outline of what is specifically evaluated with recommended point deductions.
You must be on site at 10:00 am for a mandatory Judges meeting for a brief orientation and to receive your assigned cars to evaluate.
Each judge will receive a custom designed T shirt , free coffee and the opportunity to interact with the owners of these beautiful cars.

This time we will be getting into the fall spirit by tasting ryes. 9/23/2023 – Saturday – HCR Hill Country Backroads to Castell (paved & unpaved)
Explore the backroads of Texas Hill Country with Hill Country’s first-ever Texas-Style Tour including unpaved roads. This scenic family-friendly tour will cover a mix of paved, gravel and dirt roads ending with lunch at Castell General Store. This tour has been planned with Cayenne and Macan owners in mind, however HCR members with SUVs, Jeeps or Pickups of any make are welcome. This event is open for registration on Club Registration.

This PCA Driver Education event is a joint presentation of the Hill Country, Lone Star and Maverick Regions, with the support of the Houston Chapter BMW-CCA. 10/14/2023 – Saturday – Registration is now open for the 3rd annual Porsche vs. Ferrari Shootout! This highly anticipated event takes places this year on October 14, 2023 at Moorespeed, 7910 Burleson Road, Building #2 in Austin. This year will now have a Race Car invitation class in addition to the head to head competition with the Ferrari Club.
Judged registration is $75. The best cars in each division will receive an award trophy for 1st and 2nd place. The Judges will also award one Best in Show and all Judged cars will be eligible for gift certificates from our vendors and various supporters. If you would like to register your car into the Concours judging, go to Club Registration using this link. No need to register if you just want to look at these amazing cars!

10/15/2023 – Sunday – Get Together North – Join us 9:00 am – 11:00 am at Red Horn Brewery & Roastery, located at 1615 Scottsdale Drive, Building 1, Suite 110 in Leander. The entire back parking lot is set aside for HCR members, with picnic tables and our own access through the rear entrance.

10/18/2023 – Wednesday – The October Sips ‘n Sticks will be very special, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM at the home of Charlie and Jane Ann Sparks in Georgetown. This event will be structured a bit different than our usual Sips ‘n Sticks…it’s a “Stock The Whisky Room” event! Here’s how it will work:
- There’s a limit of 20 participants. Registration is required at Club Registration.
- We will be outdoors, in the terrific Casa Sparks backyard. Three different seating areas are available: covered patio, poolside, and the fireplace area. Pick your favorite setting and enjoy the evening.
* We will start the evening with dinner, furnished by Charlie and Jane Ann. - Instead of the usual $50 per person fee, each attendee is requested to bring a ~$50 bottle of single malt whisky. We will be outdoors, in the terrific Casa Sparks backyard with three different seating areas are available.
- As a group, we will select 3 of the bottles brought in by attendees for the tasting event and Charlie will select a bottle from his Whisky Room collection. Those wishing to pair a cigar will be invited to select their stogies from any of Charlie’s humidors. Ladies are always invited to join in. Plenty of snacks will be available, as well as other non-alcoholic beverages.

10/21/2023 – Saturday – Fall Tour With a Twist! Date: Saturday, Oct 2, driver’s meeting time at 8:00 AM, departure 8:30 AM. Starting Location: 4700 E. Palm Valley Blvd in Round Rock (behind Murphy’s in Walmart parking lot.) We will take about a 2-hour drive out to the Dime Box Distillery in Giddings! HCR member, Brian Evans, is a co-owner of the distillery and wants to show our members some love. Please note this tour is limited to 45 vehicles. We will have a waitlist beyond 45 vehicles, should there be any cancellations. Please register at Club Registration.
